Certification Criteria

Please read fully then Download Application GACHP motto is to “Inspire and Equip” this encourages the professional development of all Hospitality Managers and Directors through participation in its certification program. The various levels of certification as outlined below demonstrate expertise in its specific areas through comprehensive courses in class room training. Each level covers core competencies of the Food/Hospitality Management industry for those in ministry.

The goals of the Certification Program are to:

· Establish a nationally recognized standard for competencies in Hospitality Ministries
· Promote professional commitment to excellence in hospitality ministry.
· Aid Churches/Ministries in identifying qualified hospitality personnel.
· Enhance the professional image of the Food Service/Hospitality Manager, Director, and Administrators
· Always working in the spirit of Philippians 3:14 “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”)

Levels of Certification

· Certified Culinary/Hospitality Ministry Manager
· Certified Culinary/Hospitality Ministry Director
· Certified Culinary/Hospitality Ministry Administrator

Cost

· Certified Culinary/Hospitality Ministry Manager $100.00
· Certified Culinary/Hospitality Ministry Director $200.00
· Certified Culinary/Hospitality Ministry Administrator $300.00

All certification levels are made up of 3 categories: General Education, Experience, and Management/Ministry Education.

Eligibility and Requirements

· Must have application completed and post marked by application deadline
· Must be an active member of GACHP for at least 1 year
· Must be active member of a local church
· Must have a reference letter from their Pastor or Administrator of good moral character
· Must meet criteria for certification level with proof of documentation

Application Procedures

· Complete the application by Download Application
· Mail to GACHP P.O. Box 1614, Black Mountain, NC., 28711 with copies of documentation by April 30th in order to receive certification at same year conference.
· Once you receive certification approval, Mail check to GACHP in the amount listed above for certification completion.

Upon Completion of Certification

· Certification Certificate will be given at Annual Conference or mailed if not attended
· Written notification to immediate Supervisor and Senior Pastor of individual’s certification and accomplishment
· Certification is valid for 5 years

Certified Culinary/Hospitality Manager Criteria:

Education:

· HS Diploma , College Degree, or Approved Apprenticeship Program (must submit apprenticeship program in writing)
· Serve Safe Exam/ Local Dept. of Health Food Service Manager Exam or GACHP Sanitation Course
· Basic accounting through a college or university or GACHP conference classes

Experience:

· 4 years as a Chef /Sous Chef/ Kitchen/Restaurant Mgr./ or Hospitality Manager/Director or equivalent position

Management/Ministry

· Leadership Classes at GACHP Conference or equivalent
· Ministry/Discipleship/Evangelism Training, Basic Counseling or GACHP class equivalent
· Self-Improvement/Management Seminars ( Career Track, Heart of a Leader, Dale Carnegie, etc) or GACHP class equivalent

Certified Culinary/Hospitality Director Criteria:

Education:

· HS Diploma , College Degree, or Approved Apprenticeship Program (must submit apprenticeship program in writing)
· Serve Safe Exam/Food Service Manager Exam or equivalent
· Basic accounting through a college or university or GACHP conference class

Experience:

·7 years as a Chef /Sous Chef /Kitchen Manager/ or Hospitality Manager/Director, Restaurant Manager with Financial responsibilities, including labor, food costs.
· Hiring & firing, development & training of staff and/or volunteers.

Management/Ministry

· Leadership Classes at GACHP Conference or equivalent
· Ministry/Discipleship/Evangelism Training, Basic Counseling or GACHP class equivalent
· Self-Improvement/Management Seminars ( Career Track, Heart of a Leader, Dale Carnegie, etc) or GACHP class equivalent

Certified Culinary/Hospitality Administrator Criteria:

Education:

· HS Diploma or College Degree or Approved Apprenticeship Program
(must submit apprenticeship program in writing)
· Serve Safe Exam/Food Service Manager Exam or equivalent
· Basic Accounting through a college or university or GACHP conference class

Experience:

· 10 years in a food service leadership position with responsibilities to include labor, food costs, management, development, training, hiring and firing of staff and volunteers. Also have responsibility for another area of ministry that is outside of or complementary to food service. ( ex. weddings, special events, satellite venue ) and oversight of managers of those areas ( a manager of managers)

Management/Ministry

· Leadership Classes at GACHP Conference or equivalent
· Ministry/Discipleship/Evangelism Training, Basic Counseling or GACHP class equivalent
· Self-Improvement/Management Seminars ( Career Track, Heart of a Leader, Dale Carnegie, etc) or GACHP class equivalent
· Human Resources course or GACHP class equivalent
· Read 3 books a year from the approved book list and submit 500 word summary essay
